the subway

So here, underneath the ground of the greatest city in the world, all the little Manhattanites scurry about. Rushing to and fro, from the 6 to the E, the N to the Q, white headphones dangling from ears, iPhones in hands eager to communicate, hurriedly moving across the free morning newspapers papers scattered on the scummy subway ground. At first glance, it is just a whirlwind of urban dwellers in a tizzy, overwhelming, strange and invigorating at the same time. The oddest part is the day you realize you've grown so accustomed and benevolent towards it after the day in, day out of it for so many city years.  That day was today for me. Weird.

So although I know I am not the only one who is the world's biggest Oprah fan, but insomuch as I like to think of myself this way, I have a few ponderings I'd like to share. Firstly, being 29, I wish my mother had sat me down on the couch at 4 years each day at 4 pm to watch The Oprah Winfrey show so here and now, I could know I really did NOT miss an episode. This would confirm what I already position as truth. Second, I just find it a little funny that Oprah is no longer going to have her own show but yet her best friend, Gayle, remains on TV, on the radio each and every day. Not that there's really any point here but I do muse...are the sad sad Oprah fans like myself around the world going to now take to watching Gayle for the slight possibility she might...gasp...mention the big O? Have her on the show? Lastly, I know Oprah is over the show since she did it for 25 years and all. And I know Oprah is larger than life and will inevitably come out with some superhuman move next but I do wonder, what exactly IS she going to do next? Just wondering :)

sometimes i giggle

Sitting at my desk in my little ad agency world, sometimes i muse. i remember back to the days of college when i could bang out a 7 page paper hopped up on caffeine from endless hours spent lounging in starbucks. i would just sit in my little room at midnight, 1 am, 2, and spit out what, not to appear in any way arrogant here, but what appeared to be a solid paper, ultimately garnering somewhere in the A range. And now, as I bemusedly sit here in my little advertising closet slash office writing what is a fairly obvious, less than a page, straight-forward email to "the client", forced to filter it through 2 parties prior to hitting the little gray send button, i just can't help but giggle.
